About Us

The American Institute of Wine and Food is a nonprofit organization and public charity founded on the premise that gastronomy is essential to the quality of human existence. AIWF was established in 1981 by Robert Mondavi, Julia Child, Richard Garff and others to provide a forum for the study and enjoyment of gastronomy.
AIWF has something for everyone! Not only do we have fun at the multiple events per year but our events have an educational element as well, so you can learn, taste and socialize all at the same time. In our Monterey Chapter we provide a Scholarship Program as an opportunity to give back to the community. We offer scholarships to full-time students attending an accredited program in the Culinary Arts, Oenology, and Hospitality.
The AIWF signature program, Days of Taste teaches under-served elementary school students that eating healthy tastes good. The goal is to bring ingredients from local farms and chefs to classrooms in the area.
Membership is open to all and offers innovative programs, member benefits, and unique events. AIWF is the resource for anyone who loves to enjoy great cuisine.
