In-person lecture by Brian Taylor, part of PhotoCarmel 2025 activities. Join us for an overview of the bold and innovative women photographers who helped shape West Coast Photography in our historic region. Explore the unique work of pioneers like Ann Brigman, who photographed landscapes and nudes along Carmel’s seashores in the early 1900s (pre f/64), as well as Sonya Noskowiak and Imogen Cunningham, founders of the f/64 movement in the 1930s. Travel through the 20th century with Edna Bullock, Dorothea Lange, and Ruth Bernhard, up to contemporary image makers like Sally Mann, Judy Dater, Linda Connor, Martha Casanave, and Cara Weston.
