About Us

Founded in 1950 by a group of local residents concerned for their aging neighbors, The Carmel Foundation has a rich history of serving our community. Voted the "best hangout for seniors age 55 & better," the Foundation offers 65+ weekly classes and activities, tours, lunches, and 50 low-income housing units in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Although the needs and interests of our members have evolved, our commitment to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle remains central to our mission. For the young at heart, we provide opportunities to learn something new, meet friends, and enjoy meals through our onsite lunch program, a variety of weekly activities and tours to local and regional points of interest.

For those in need, we offer essential support services, including 50 low-income apartments, free medical equipment loans, and meal delivery for the homebound. Our programs benefit those seeking meaningful activities and camaraderie, as well as those requiring additional support to age successfully.

The Carmel Foundation is a membership organization dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors in our community.
