The nonprofit Monterey Ski and Social Club (MSSC) has won first place in the “Charities & Our Community Award” program from the Far West Ski Association (FWSA). This is an association of 120 snow skiing clubs and councils across the western United States.   This announcement was made at the Annual FWSA Convention held October 7-10, 2021 in San Diego CA.

This award recognizes those clubs who display outstanding support for their local charities as well as their community. The MSSC was co-founded by Greg Robinson in 1995 and has developed into an organization that has proudly provided volunteers and donations for many fellow charities and other worthy causes. This was achieved primarily due to the number of hours they volunteer at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca racetrack; for the Sea Otter Classic international bicycle competitions; the Community Holiday Dinner and many others. The club also has various fundraisers, such as its annual Poinsettia fundraiser that allows for donations to various organizations. It supports the Annual Community Holiday Dinner that’s normally at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center, the monthly I-Help homeless ladies dinners, the Big Sur International Marathon, the Sabu Shake Salvation Army fundraiser and the Food Bank for Monterey County among many others.

MSSC VP and Volunteer Coordinator Kath Maki has been instrumental  in helping the club provide these volunteers.

The Monterey Ski and Social Club is very proud of this award! We are proud to be of service to our local charities and communities.
