About Us

The Santa Lucia Preserve, a private community situated on 20,000 acres of majestic land, is a remarkable conservation community, where 300 families have chosen to permanently protect and collectively manage over 90% of their lands as wild natural habitat. Located approximately 10 minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea, the community and its residents are dedicated to appreciating and respecting the natural beauty of this unique geographical, historical and cultural setting.

The Preserve reflects a unique, blended ethos of community, culture and conservation, with a model unlike any other in America. A perpetually endowed, independent conservation organization, the Santa Lucia Conservancy, cares for its lands and waters and engaging the families who live here.

Within the community are a wide variety of lifestyle options and activities, including a golf course ranked in the top 100 in the U.S., the 18-acre Moore’s Lake, glamping, 100 miles of hiking trails, an expansive, multi-discipline equestrian operation, sports and aquatic center, and more.
Welcoming a variety of lifestyles and ages, The Preserve's engaged and active community has access to several dining venues in an historic Hacienda and at The Preserve Golf Clubhouse. Additionally, a full schedule of community cultural events and traditions are offered.
