JOB OPPORTUNITY
Position: Development Coordinator
Non-exempt, Part-time, 20 hours per week @ $35/hour
Reports to: Executive Director
Healing Partners of the Central Coast (HPCC) is looking for a development professional with responsibility for fundraising activities, including, donor relations, grants, and events.
The ideal candidate is a work-from-home, energetic, heart-centered, creative, and collaborative individual who will help strengthen the financial stability of a growing nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting health and healing for those facing the challenges of cancer. The position provides opportunities for hands-on experience, collaboration, and mentorship from the Executive Director, Board members, and others on the HPCC team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fundraising & Development: Manage and grow individual donor base; Identify and pursue corporate sponsors; Develop strategies for increasing all levels of donors; Conduct prospect research to diversify and grow the pipeline of funders; Identify and develop fundraising opportunities.
2. Donor Relations & Stewardship: Prepare for and participate in donor and funder meetings; Help maintain relationships with current donors and foster relationships with prospective donors; Write and send out Thank You notes for donations, business and corporate sponsors, and grants.
3. Fundraising Events: Support the Event Committee in meeting established fundraising goals for events; Identify and secure sponsors for fundraising events. Collaborate with the Event Committee in developing sponsorship packages and materials; Ensure timely follow-up on development-related event tasks, deliverables, and timelines.
4. Grants & Foundation Support: Research and identify foundation prospects and other potential grant funders; Develop relationships with current and prospective funders; Write and submit grant applications and letters of inquiry; Coordinate with the Controller to ensure data points and demographics used in grant requests, sponsorship packages, and other developmental materials are current and accurate; Prepare and submit reports to grantors in accordance with established deadlines; Maintain grant databases and files, including funder contacts, application, and reporting deadlines, grant awards, and the grant pipeline.
5. Community Engagement & Outreach: Identify opportunities for HPCC presentations to community groups, organizations, businesses, and other potential partners or supporters; Coordinate presentation opportunities with the ED or appropriate Board member and support preparation of materials as needed; Participate in community presentations and outreach opportunities; Develop and maintain a media contact list; Coordinate with Marketing Team to prepare and send out important announcements to media contacts.
6. Development Administration & Recordkeeping: Track development-related tasks, deliverables, and timelines; Maintain development records and files; Develop realistic fundraising goals and strategies for meeting established revenue projections; Collaborate with ED and Controller to establish income and expense budgets for individual donor, corporate sponsorship, foundation grant, event, and campaign goals for MC Gives! as well as other fundraising appeals.
7. Board Leadership Support: When invited, attend Board meetings; Support preparation of development status updates to present to the Board of Directors.
Knowledge and Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with ability to work independently and efficiently
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues across the organization, and be flexible to respond to changing priorities
- Capability to establish rapport with donors, corporate and business sponsors, foundations and to build donor base
- Strong planning, organizational, and implementation skills to support fundraising goals
- General computer proficiency, and competence with office software, with research abilities to help increase donor base and manage digital filing and tracking systems
- Ability to effectively present development and funding opportunities to prospective donors, sponsors, foundations, and other funders
- Assistance with the development of marketing, communications, and PR programs – print, online, social media
- Experience with fundraising planning, revenue goal setting, and developing realistic strategies to meet established fundraising projections preferred
- Previous nonprofit experience preferred
