Gallery Associate (Independent Contractor)

Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery is seeking a personable, motivated Gallery Associate (Independent Contractor) to join our team 2–3 days per week. This is a unique opportunity to work in a vibrant, contemporary gallery setting in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea.
We’re looking for someone who appreciates art, enjoys connecting with people, and is comfortable engaging in sales in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome and engage with gallery visitors in a warm, professional manner
- Share knowledge about artists and artwork (training provided)
- Assist with art sales and transaction processing
- Help maintain the presentation and organization of the gallery
- Support a positive, elevated guest experience
What We’re Looking For
- Interest in art and/or art history
- Experience in sales, retail, hospitality, or customer service preferred
- Confident communicator with a friendly, approachable style
- Self-starter with a mature, reliable work ethic
- Comfortable working independently
Compensation
- Starting at $20/hour
- 5% commission on sales after 3 months
- Flexible part-time schedule (2–3 days/week)
