From its familiar fragrance to its uses in cooking, gardening and the home, lavender is a remarkably versatile plant. The Carmel Foundation invites the community to “A Local Lavender Experience” on Wednesday, October 14, at 2:30 p.m. in Diment Hall. The program is free and open to the public, with refreshments served.
Ryan Hopkins, co-founder of Lavender Creek Company, will take guests on a sensory journey into the world of locally grown lavender. He’ll explain how lavender is grown, harvested and distilled, introduce different varieties and their uses, and share examples from the farm, including locally distilled lavender essential oil.
Hopkins will also share how Lavender Creek transforms its harvest into products used in homes, hospitals, schools and other settings. Through stories, demonstrations and conversation, attendees will discover practical ways to use lavender in cooking, relaxation, gardening and around the home, while gaining a new appreciation for this locally grown plant.
