Carmel, CA— The Center for Photographic Art (CPA) located in the historic Sunset Center, is pleased to announce Nomadic Dreamer, an exciting and sometimes otherworldly installation of photographs and mixed media pieces that will take you on a visual and emotional journey. This visit to the gallery will be like no other thanks to the wild imagination of artist, Melanie Walker.
This much-anticipated and long-awaited exhibition of the 2024 Critical Mass Solo Show Award Winner, Melanie Walker, is being presented in collaboration with PhotoLucida, a wonderful photography non-profit located in Portland, Oregon. We’re thrilled to be exhibiting an innovative and exciting installation by this internationally recognized artist! Her ongoing allegorical project, Nomadic Dreamer: a modern myth of shelter and passage, explores how we carry our histories, emotional landscapes, and social environments with us — sometimes literally on our shoulders. Houses for heads? Why not? Puppets hanging from the ceiling? Why not? Veils to walk through like a maze? Why not?
