By 2030, individuals aged 65 and older are expected to make up 20% of the U.S. population. With advancing age comes an increased risk of frailty syndrome and cognitive decline—conditions that can significantly impact independence and quality of life. Worldwide, the prevalence of dementia is projected to nearly triple, from 57 million in 2019 to over 150 million by 2050 (Nichols et al., 2022), underscoring the urgent need for better understanding and prevention.
In this informative presentation, Dr. Sun-Suslow, a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in older adults, will explore the relationship between frailty and cognitive impairment. She’ll also share evidence-based strategies to reduce the risk for both conditions and support healthy aging.
Dr. Sun-Suslow completed her doctoral training in Health Psychology and postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at UC San Diego. She currently provides neuropsychological evaluations at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP).
